Selection Process for Our Coaches

The academic qualifications and teaching experience of potential coaches are first evaluated. Short-listed applicants will then undergo rounds of interviews.

Desmond Tan

Head Coach

Desmond is the Head Coach for Ace Brainery. A chemist by training, he first obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) with First Class in Chemistry from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009. The university subsequently awarded him with the President’s Graduate Fellowship to pursue his post graduate studies. Desmond graduated with his M.Sc. (Research) in Chemistry from NUS in 2012. He was also awarded a teaching award by NUS in 2010. Desmond firmly sees the need for a solid connection with his students, before he can truly engage them in Chemistry to arouse their interest.

Wilson Tan

Coach

Wilson is a Chemistry Coach for Ace Brainery. He graduated with an honours degree in NUS. Wilson previously graduated from Singapore Polytechnic (SP) with a diploma of merit – an award conferred to the top 10 percentile of the cohort. He specialises in GCE ‘O’ Level Chemistry, and has acquired more than 8 years of teaching experience. Wilson sees that a strong foundation is necessary in order to achieve excellence in Chemistry. His teaching methods are methodical and customised accordingly to what each student requires.
