Before joining Ace Brainery, my Chemistry grades have always been below average and I consistently struggled trying to self-study the subject. After going through half the year without external help, my grades heavily deteriorated and that was when I decided to join Ace Brainery through strong recommendation from my good friend. Desmond carefully curated his lessons and also simplified complicated concepts. The pace of the lessons was well thought through which allowed me to have enough time to understand and revise the concepts that were being taught. What stood out to me the most was the way Desmond made a genuine effort to check in on every student and ensured that each and every one of us was on right path. No matter what time of the day it was, he will always answer any of our questions patiently and thoroughly. I am extremely grateful to have Desmond assist me in my Chemistry journey. In summary, since joining Ace Brainery, my Chemistry grade has improved from a low 5 to an extremely high 7 that happened to during the single most important HL Chemistry exam, which was the actual IB sitting. I joined Desmond’s class at Ace Brainery at the start of IB Year 5. Throughout my secondary school days I have always had difficulties with regards to my Chemistry, and it was always one of my weaker subjects. Having Desmond as my tutor helped significantly in compressing and simplying Chemistry concepts into ideas that were relatable, easy to grasp and understand, which ultimately paved the way in forming the foundation of my Chemistry knowledge. Over the lessons that I’ve had with Desmond, his skill at efficiently communicating Chemistry concepts, along with his genuine concern for his students’ success was what helped me develop into a student with much greater confidence and understanding of the syllabus. Desmond also always went out of his way to answer each and every of my questions, even when I asked him late at night. His passionate attitude towards teaching also inspired me to put in the due effort to obtain stellar results. Overall, with Desmond’s help, I was able to obtain my 7 in Chemistry, and I couldn’t be more grateful for all the effort he expended, not just in teaching Chemistry, but even guiding me in life lessons which I would carry with me far into the future. When I first joined Desmond’s HL Chemistry class, I was extremely lost in school and had not much idea as to even approach basic Chemistry questions. I was scoring grade 4s and 5s for Chemistry in Year 6, and I was really worried because no matter how I studied, I just could not understand the subject matter. However, Desmond explained Chemistry concepts very well and also effectively planned his lessons so that we managed to cover all required revision before our actual IB exams. Desmond’s confidence in his teaching reassured me, because I knew that I would be able to get 7 in Chemistry as long as I followed what Desmond told me to do. I first joined Ace Brainery at the start of Year 6, after barely passing my Year 5 promotional exams. Within just a few lessons, I could see an improvement in my Chemistry proficiency. Mr Desmond always made lessons interesting and easy to understand, allowing me to be able to grasp concepts fast. Furthermore, Mr Desmond would even stay back after lessons to answer my questions, even encouraging us to text him outside of lesson time to ask questions. Even though I had multiple questions, he would take the time to answer each question slowly and explained them excellently. Due to Mr Desmond’s help, I managed to secure a 7 for Chemistry, which was something I never thought was possible. Thank you Mr Desmond!

Being taught by Desmond for 2 years definitely developed my love for Chemistry, making it my favourite and strongest subject. Desmond is one of the most hardworking and dedicated teachers I have met. I really appreciated everything from the tricky questions he asked us in class, to his useful exam tips and strategies, and the constant help he gave students both during and after class. What makes Desmond a really special tutor is how much he cares for each and every one of his students, catering to their individual needs. He always encouraged us to send him questions via WhatsApp, and would answer them at any hour. I remember sending 10-15 questions in a row (not just once), yet Desmond would take the time to explain everything in voice recordings until I understood. Moreover, he sometimes praised and encouraged me during class, and that motivated me to work harder and improve faster. Desmond’s guidance has allowed me to consistently score 90 and above in all my Year 6 examinations, with a final score of 93 for my IB HL Chemistry exam, and I could not be more grateful. I’ve recommended Desmond to many of my friends, as I can say for sure that he will help anyone excel in Chemistry. Thank you Desmond!

Since secondary school, Chemistry was never a subject that I could grasp. All the information seemed abstract and I never really scored well in examinations even if I studied. I continued to struggle with Chemistry during IB, and when I got a 5 during my Year 5 promo exams, I decided to look for help, especially as I hoped to pursue medicine in university. Joining Mr Desmond’s class was probably one of my wisest decisions. He is always engaging in class, and also encourages us to ask questions. He clarified every single doubt I had, frequently sharing exam tips on how to study effectively, and helping to draw links between various topics. I never expected my understanding for the subject to be able to improve so much in the span of less than a year. I even started to enjoy learning Chemistry, and eventually managed to get a 7 for IB. I’m truly grateful for all his support and am genuinely blessed to have had him as my teacher.

Since my secondary school days, my Chemistry has been very weak cause I often missed school due to my involvement in competitive tennis in Chemistry. Hence, I really struggled in my first year of IB for HL Chemistry, and just managed to scrape 5 points for the finals. It was then when my friends recommended me to join Ace Brainery. I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Mr Desmond as they were interactive and productive. He is able to break down complex concepts into tiny digestible bits, allowing me to grasp the concepts much better. Mr Desmond not only does work with us during the weekly scheduled sessions, but also helps his students via whatsapp even in the late hours of the night (he has replied to my chem queries numerous times after midnight). His care and dedication has really helped me improve my Chemistry. I definitely would not have been able to achieve my final Chemistry results without his help! As a competitive swimmer, I had to travel often for overseas training camps and competitions. It was not a surprise that I was pretty behind schedule in my final IB final year due to many lessons missed in class and honestly, I had a lot to catch up for my HL Chemistry. I was very fortunate that Desmond was able to help me work out a schedule to coach me. He really helped me to understand the subject matter within a short span of time. He somehow has the ability to simplify and condense complicated concepts into very effective lessons. Not only is Desmond patient, but he is also very dedicated to all his students.
